Sylvia is a physical therapist who uses her therapy training to help babies latch successfully and nurse efficiently. She specializes in helping babies who can't latch, who can’t nurse both breasts, or who cause the mother pain when nursing. Sylvia has taken her four decades of experience helping mothers breastfeed and complied them into a two-hour course which she presents in the San Francisco Bay Area for all those involved in providing an optimal birth and breastfeeding experience for mother and baby. COURSE OBJECTIVES

 

At course completion, participants will:

*  Identify signs that indicate baby is in a sub-optimal fetal position
*  Demonstrate maternal positions that help baby move into optimal fetal positioning
*  List physical signs in the baby that indicate tension is affecting successful breastfeeding 
*  Identify strategies that may help promote more comfortable breastfeeding in a tense baby
*  Recognize underlying mechanical causes of poor breastfeeding experiences
